Over the semester, Grade 2 ESL designed a monster together. Using English, they talked together and decided which student would draw each part of the monster. Once they designed their monster, they wrote stories about “The Monster Under My Bed.” Students also practiced oral English through each designing rooms of a house. The students had to work together to discuss their design and each persons’ contribution to the project. Spelling was an important part of Grade 2 ESL. Students used plastic letters to play spelling games. They liked to challenge each other to spell words correctly.
