Dear ACIS School Community,
Your health and safety are of paramount importance to us. We're writing to inform you about an ongoing situation that requires our collective attention and cooperation. In light of recent developments, we want to ensure that everyone is well-informed and equipped with the necessary knowledge to protect themselves and those around them.
Local health authorities have alerted us to an outbreak of Influenza A in Chiang Mai. Influenza A, commonly known as the flu, is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. Symptoms may include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, and more. Given the gravity of the situation, it's imperative that we all adhere to the guidelines issued by both the government and the local hospital.
To curb the spread of the virus within our school community, we kindly urge all students, parents, and staff to follow these crucial steps:
Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated with the latest information from reliable sources such as the local health department, official government announcements, and ACIS updates.
Practice Good Hygiene: Encourage frequent hand-washing with soap and water, cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow, and maintain a safe distance from individuals who show symptoms.
Stay Home if Sick: If your child exhibits flu-like symptoms—such as fever, cough, or body aches—please keep them home to prevent the potential spread of the virus to others.
Return to School Criteria: In line with recommended guidelines, a student must be fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school.
We understand that this news might cause concern, but please rest assured that we're closely monitoring the situation. We're working collaboratively with health authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of our school community. Now, more than ever, it's crucial for us to stay vigilant, adhere to the recommended guidelines, and extend support to one another during these challenging times.
Your cooperation and commitment to these guidelines will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our community.
Stay safe and take care,
The Americana Chinese International School (ACIS) Administration
