Tips From The ACIS Nurse: Recognizing and Managing Common Winter Ailments

As the cold weather sets in, be aware of common winter ailments and look out for the following symptoms:


The Common Cold: Runny nose, sneezing, mild fever

Influenza (Flu): High fever, fatigue, body aches

Pneumonia: Serious lung infection, needs immediate medical attention

Chickenpox: Fever and a rash that turns into blisters

Diarrhea: Vomiting, diarrhea, fever

Measles: Fever, cough, rash


Guidelines:

  • Stay informed.

  • Keep sick kids home.

  • Wash hands, and wear masks.

  • Fever-free for 24 hours before returning.
